Artisan Bakers of Gluten Free Goodies
In 2008 I found out I had an intolerance to gluten. When searching for gluten free alternatives to my favourite cakes and other goodies I was surprised and frustrated to discover that there was little in the way of choice when it came to great tasting products. Everything I tried disappointed. I was dealing with dry, crumbly textures and at best things tasted bland, and some were quite awful. Fed up, I took out my whisk and began baking my own. I experimented endlessly in my kitchen until I perfected recipes that were moist, tasty and easy on the eye. My mantra has always been ‘taste first, gluten free second’.
Friends enjoyed them too – whether they were gluten intolerant or not. They started asking me to bake for them and Gluten Free Goodies was born. My cakes started to reach more and more people, and eventually I had trade customers from health shops and cafes placing large orders. The brand developed to become SIN and sales really took off when I launched cakes in The Little Black Box – retailers, coffee shops and airlines loved the box as it was perfect for ‘food on the go’.
Along the way we’ve won lots of taste awards and are always developing additional recipes to our range; which are made in a dedicated gluten free commercial kitchen with a BRC certification for total coeliac food safety.
